The mission

Tipik was asked to promote and organise the opening of Parlamentarium, a new visitors’ center showcasing decision making in at the European Parliament through the latest in interactive technology and design.  With successful pre publicity we knew the event would attract a high number of visitors for the opening weekend so we pulled out all the stops to ensure they took part in an unforgettable event.

And since there were two openings, an official one and an event for the general public, we knew we needed a lot of original concepts to please all audiences.

Our solution

The 11 October saw the official opening involving key political figures from across the European Union and a member of the Belgian royal family, Princess Astrid. Tipik solved the logistics, ensured tasteful and elegant decoration using, among other things, lighting and sound effects, sumptuous floral displays and big screen relays for the speeches so everyone could participate. We also saw to it that a large and well-stocked cocktail party went off without a hitch, following the inaugural ribbon cutting (we also provided the scissors).

On the 14 October, Parlamentarium opened its doors to the public and here Tipik exploited its skill in open air animation, with jugglers, stilt-walkers, a vast cake shared between the first 1000 visitors. The weekend saw thousands of people enjoying the centre and the various live music shows we put on.

The impact

The event was a resounding success. Pre publicity from our editorial department ensured very large visitor numbers and the Tipik’s event team saw to it that they, and the officials at the earlier opening, came away with a very positive view of the centre. The Centre’s profile was boosted still further by the extensive media coverage it received in France and Belgium.
